Agate
Agate stones are well known for their decorative properties. In fact, decorative uses of agate stones date back to Ancient Greece! These stones are primarily formed within metamorphic and volcanic rocks. Agate is a variety of chalcedony, formed from compounded layers of quartz. This is what gives agate it's colored bands or vein-like appearance. It is also known as the birthstone for the month of September.
