Lapis Heritage Necklace

Hand-crafted with hand-made silver links, and a beautifully woven centerpiece. The middle component holds a one-inch Lapis Lazuli stone. Tiny inclusions of labradorite can be spotted on the side chains. Overall necklace measures 21" long but can be adjusted to any shorter length. Liver of Sulfur is used to create an antique finish.

Lapis lazuli is a semi-precious stone, notorious for its gorgeous blue hues. Its vibrant color has attracted the attention of artists for thousands of years. Though most commonly seen in jewelry today, the stone has had many different uses historically. Ancient Egyptians had used the stone to create blue cosmetics, as an early form of eyeshadow. During the Renaissance, painters used the ground stone to make ultramarine––a pigment used to paint the skies and seas.
