Get to Know Your Stones:
Sodalite gets its name from the rich sodium content within the stone. It actually first gained popularity as an ornamental stone in 1891, when it was discovered in Ontario, Canada. Because these deposits were discovered at the same time as a visit from the royal family, Sodalite is sometimes referred to as Princess Blue in Canada!
